Activities at Kapama Buffalo Camp
With the guidance of knowledgeable game rangers and its unrivalled comfort, this Camp is a truly authentic way to experience the African bush. Your day's adventures may be shared with fellow guests in the cool open-air bar whilst taking in the spectacular view over the river bed.
Elephant Back Safaris
Kapama Private Game Reserve is proud to introduce the first luxury Elephant experience. It is exclusive to Kapama Game Reserve safari guests and offers a truly unforgettable wildlife experience. The 12 fully trained African Elephants arrived at Kapama in early 2002, after being relocated from Zimbabwe, where their safety were in jeopardy. Guests are seated on comfortable canvas-covered saddles positioned behind an experienced Elephant handler on their Kapama Game Reserve safari.
From this vantage point, they are able to view game from close proximity as the Elephants move silently and in a single file through the bush. The unique and memorable experience of interacting with Africa's gentle giants will be savoured long after guests alight from the patiently kneeling Elephants.
A game drive in an open safari vehicle offers guests the opportunity to see the Big Five and a large variety of smaller wildlife. Guests set out in the early morning and evening accompanied by highly skilled game rangers, who provide interesting information and anecdotes about the inhabitants of the bush.
Clay Pigeon Shooting
Clay Pigeon Shooting is a rather good team building activity for a Kapama Game Reserve safari. There are two clay pigeon machines and one rabbit rolling machine. Clay Pigeon Shooting is arranged on request as it is charged as an extra.
Hoedspruit Endangered Species Centre
The Hoedspruit Endangered Species Centre is about an hour's drive from Kapama Lodge through the bush. The stay at Kapama Private Game Reserve includes a visit to the centre and this is arranged between the guests and the rangers.
Bush walks on this Kapama Game Reserve safari are arranged by the rangers and include informative talks about the grasses, trees, wild flowers and animals.
Picnics and bush braais (barbeques)
Picnics and bush braais are very informal and highly enjoyable. These can be arranged at various spots around the reserve.
The bird hide is built on the banks of a large dam. Guests have the opportunity to view a large variety of water birds as well as animals coming down to drink.
Birding and sundowner cruises for up to six people at a time are offered on this. There is also a chance of viewing Crocodile and Hippo at close range.
Optional extra activities whilst at Kapama Private Game Reserve
Kapama Private Game Reserve is able to offer a number of additional activities slightly further afield, in conjunction with various partners.
